The Zela Metalmark Butterfly is a member of the Riondinidae Family.
They are
1 - 1.25 inches wide with a gray-brown forewing which contrasts with the
brighter orange-brown hindwing.
Males perch in openings in valley bottoms to watch for females. |
Zela Metalmark Butterflies are found throughout the central
portion of Arizona to the central east and southeast usually along streams and
canyons in mountain foothills. Adults fly between February - September. |
