Blue Dicks (Hyacinth)

Blue Dicks are a member of the Lily Family. The plant grows to 30 inches in height and has dark green, grass-like leaves that grow to 15 inches in length. The plant typically grows on mesas and on open slopes and plains at elevations below 5000 feet..
 

Blue Dicks have an onion-like bulb that was used for food by pioneers and Native Americans.

Blue Dicks bloom between February - May and produce clusters of purple flowers with six petals that grow at the end of a slender stem to 1 inch in width.
