Mexican Hat

Natural History

Mexican Hat is a member of the Sunflower Family. The plant grows to 3 feet in height and has narrow, green leaves that grow to 6 inches in length. The plant typically grows in fields, clearings in pine forests and along road sides at elevations between 5000 - 8500 feet.
 

Mexican Hat is also known as Yellow Coneflower.

Mexican Hat blooms between June - October and produces a yellow flower with drooping petals to 3 inches in width with a cone shaped column in the middle to 1.5 inches in height.
