Slender Gaillardia (Gaillardia pinnatifida)

Natural History

Slender Gaillardia is a member of the Sunflower Family. It grows to 20 inches in height and has green, lobed leaves which grow to 3 inches in length. The plant grows in fields, plains and on mesas at elevations between 3500-7000 feet.
 

Hopi Indians used the Slender Gaillardia as a diuretic.

Slender Gaillardia blooms between May - October and produces a yellow ray flower  to 1.75 inches in width with a reddish to greenish disk in the center.
