Desert Phlox

Natural History

Desert Phlox is a member of the Phlox Family. The plant grows to a height of 3 feet and has dark green, slender leaves to 2 inches in length.  The Desert Phlox can typically be found along washes and on rock slopes at elevations between 1500 and 5000 feet. .
 

The stems of the Desert Phlox are not very strong and the plant often uses neighboring shrubs for support.

The plant blooms in the spring (February - May) and forms white flowers with 5 petals to 1 inch in width.
