White Nightshade

Natural History

White Nightshade is a member of the Nightshade or Potato Family. The plant grows to 30 inches in height and has light green, triangular shaped leaves that grow to 3.5 inches in length. The plant typically grows along roadsides and in fields and disturbed areas.
 

White Nightshade is not native to Arizona it was likely introduced from South America.

White Nightshade blooms between March - December and produces clusters of white star shaped flowers with a yellow stamen that protrudes from the center. Flowers grow to 0.75 inches in width and are followed by a shiny, black, pea-sized berry.
